Un Pianiste au Volant

Created in 2012 in France between Mougins and Monaco by the duo Bems — composed of artists Rems Delafiste and Bims — the installation “Un Pianiste au Volant” combines an Schousen upright piano from 1856 and Mercedes-Benz car parts in a retrofuturistic artwork curated by Erwin Cazajus and Mercedes-Benz.

The work was first presented to the public in September 2012 in Villefranche-sur-Mer during the Contemporary Art Fair. The installation was then exhibited thanks to Anthony Alberti during one month at the Zoraides Foundation in Roquebrune Cap Martin, Monaco alongside works by Picasso and Joan Miró. A few months later, Mercedes-Benz held the exhibition at its showroom in Cannes, and it was subsequently presented at the Miramar Space during the International Film Festival, Cannes.
